Formal Recruitment

Panhellenic would like to say thank you to all of the women who participated in our formal recruitment process. We are very excited to welcome the newest members of our college's sororities. If you are still interested in becoming a part of Greek life, please contact our Panhellenic VP Recruitment, or any of the sorority's recruitment chairs to discuss the option of upperclassmen recruitment.

Recruitment Questions & Answers

Below are some questions you may already have about Recruitment. If you have a question that is not listed below, email us! We'll post your question anonymously and an answer as soon as possible.

    Q: What are Recruitment Counselors?
A: Recruitment Counselors help guide potential new members through the recruitment. Counselors are a great resource for finding out about Greek Life because each of them is a sister. They are unaffiliated from their sorority from August 1st until the end of formal recruitment. This enables them to introduce Greek Life at WPI to potential new members in an unbiased way.

Q: Do I only go to the recruitment rounds for the sorority I choose?
A: No, all potential new members must spend equal time at the recruitment rounds for all three sororities. Not until invitation rounds, can potential members choose to only go to one sorority's round.

Q: I know what sororities are like, why would I want to go to recruitment?
A: Don't let stereotypes about sorority life keep you away from recruitment. You'll find that all three sororities on campus are different, and even if you end up deciding not to join any of them, recruitment rounds are a great way to meet new people on campus.

Q: What if something comes up and I have to miss one of the rounds?
A: It's important to try to go to all the rounds so that you can get to know the sisters, they get to know you, and you can make sure you feel comfortable with the sisters. If you need to be excused from a round one night, please contact your Recruitment Counselor, Sarah Gilkey, or Audra Sosny. Please refer to Recruitment Guideline 2 for how to proceed with being excused.

The Panhellenic Council is designed to govern WPI's three sororities, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Xi Delta and Phi Sigma Sigma. We also organize and over-see the fall Recruitment process to help make it the most informative and enjoyable experience possible for the women who choose to take part.

Each year, we select Recruitment Counselors for the women who decide to go through New Member Recruitment. This group is available to offer help, answer questions, and aid the potential new members in figuring out which sorority is best for them. To help make potential new members feel comfortable in asking questions about either sorority, Recruitment Counselors are unaffiliated from their chapters starting August 1st until the end of formal recruitment.
